Having a pre-school kid means that you need to do some activities for these little monster. A pre-school kid likes a lot of simple easy activity.
We are living in a world that is now inclined to pay a lot to amuse our kid but simple activity at low cost or free are available to do.
Walk in the wood

An easy activity to do with a small kid is going for a walk in a wood. There’s no need to go far away to do this, you can find a wood near your house and go there. They will have fun finding and looking at the nature. Make them a game to find a squirrel, a bird, a yellow flower, white flower … They will have fun and you will not have to watch them as crazy as if you are on the side of the road. Make sure there’s no river near if you want to let them run from you.
Clean your house
These little monster will not only make your house dirty but they can also clean it. They have so much fun doing the same thing that the parent does. Show some appreciation for their job and they will continue and have fun to show what they are able to do. My two-year-old love to show that he can spray the couch or the furniture to clean them like me. It’s maybe not fun for you but your house will be clean and the kids will be happy.

Go to a park
Find some park in your area and visit them. You can do a couple park in an afternoon and walk between them if the park is small. A kid will love to go play in them. Personally, I love so much going to play in a park with my kid. I am like a kid in it too haha.
Make picnic
Make some food at home and get your cooler and go somewhere where the kid can move and that you can watch them while you are sitting down. This will be relaxing for you and the kid will love to eat outdoor and in an unusual place. Also be creative, like I got to the public pool with a park and when we arrive some thunderstorm started. Kids were hungry so I closed my store and go sears and we did a picnic in our Dodge Grand Caravan with the trunk opened.
Draw and cut old paper
Go to your recycle bin, take some paper, box or anything that you can cut or draw. Get some coloured pencil and kid scissor and start drawing, cutting, playing on these old papers. It’s a great frugal activity to do on a cold day or raining day.
Planespotting
If you are like me and your kid love seeing planes, you could try to find if your nearest airport is plane spotter friendly. Some airport like YUL in Montreal has a nice park where you can go, take a photo of the planes that are departing or arriving. This park is big enough to let your kids move and if you are like me, I love taking some photo of these huge pile of flying metal and I let my kid take some photo too and he is impressed by these plane since they are really near.
At the end of the day, your kid doesn’t know the value of the money and they don’t care if your activity cost a lot or not. They want to have fun!
